Moved!

Hi there!

I'm sorry to say this blog won't be getting much updates anymore.

But you can easily stay up to date through other channels - I frequently update my facebook profile (let's be friends!), instagram, and my new tumblr account.

Thank you for visiting and let's stay in touch!

20-40 minute figure drawings

this one is a photostudy, actually!

The ladies of the Game of Thrones

Small studies just for fun!

Shh!

An unfinished charcoal selfportrait from a while ago! Had a lot of fun drawing it. I wanna draw a similar one at some point again!

Study of a Jules Dalou sculpture

Another sculpure photo study, this time of Jules Dalou's "Young woman wearing headscarf"

Study of a Thomas Brock sculpture

An evening photo study of Thomas Brock's "Eve"

Fimbulvinter

My best friend Janka and I started holding a lil' bi-weekly drawing challenge, and our best friend Natalia is in charge of throwing us the topic :D Our first topic is ragnarok, because, well, it is supposedly nigh.
It is supposed to be started off with a three year long Fimbulvinter. So my drawing is kind of a variation on the subject of winter, vikings and their gods.
T'was a good thing to draw! I much needed a break from my current project so this was a godsend (hah, god).

Neuralgia

Yaay a more polished piece!
Had this notion on my mind for yeeears... Few days ago it came back to my brain again so I decided to finally get it out fo reals, not just as one of many unused sketches I did a while back. :)

Light 2

I had a lot of fun making that last illustration so I wanted to spit out another one because not everything has to be a milestone in progression. ;)
Color scheme just in time for today's Valentine's Day, lol.

Light

Been trying out some new photoshop techniques -- achieving translucency by using gradients rather than flat block in colors, restricting the palette for a stronger effect... I must say I quite like the outcome! Worked out well for this illustration. :)

Dwarf

This fella was doodled on my phone while re-watching the first Hobbit movie :) I worked on it quite a bit more on the computer, though. Turns out struggling with jetlag does end up with me fiddling around in photoshop quite a bit, so at least there's that!

The original objective was to check out how crazy can I get with colors on faces before it looks silly, studing how different parts are affected by things like skin's thickness or where the blood shows, etc :)

I need to calibrate my computers screens though - it looks way bluer/coolish on the computer I've worked on, while on the computer I'm submitting this from it's very saturated and warm... sigh!

Elf doodle

Since I didn't have access to my computer during the holidays, I decided to finally give my iphone's drawing app (ArtStudio) a chance. I needed a few tries to get used to it but once I did it was great :) definitely a nice way to keep the sketching flowing. I could doodle while watching movies, which is one of my favorite ways to slack off (and not feeling bad about it) :)

I touched it up in photoshop a little bit. Decided I don't really wanna develop it any further, so here it is.

Color studies

Continuing the idea from my previous post, this time with colors :)

Top two are Grimshaw paintings (I definitely have a thing for this guy's landscapes), bottom two are by T. F. Simon and Kramskoi.

Small value studies

I recently watched first video of Noah Bradley's Art Camp in which he recommended doing some thumbnail value studies... I thought it was a great composition exercise so I did a few myself :) It was a ton of fun so I'll do color studies like these as well!

I'm sorry I can't provide with the names/authors of pieces -- I picked stuff out of my art folder and many of the names are as informative as "01.jpg" :/

Though... I hate it how the frame was plain grey on the computer I drew it on, and it's warm brownish gray on the one I'm using right now... Can't trust anything these days!

A guard

Took a pencil figure study from way back and decided to put an armory designy spin on it

A rider

Horses and braids and skulls, oh my!
